FREE online child development course for adults through Staffordshire Libraries

Staffordshire Libraries have facilitated the very successful FREE Your School-Ready Child course over the past three years (under contract with  Staffordshire Adult and Community Learning). The course is aimed at adults with children aged 15 months to 5 years and covers how they can support their child with their personal, social and emotional, physical and speech and language development through activities and improving their knowledge and skills around how children learn.

The pandemic this year has rather scuppered our plans to deliver the courses in our libraries physically as we usually do but, thanks to tutors Jacqui Shankly and Kristy Ufton, we have now developed an online version of the course; this is a mixture of video lectures and modelled activities, a weekly Zoom session with Jacqui and a closed Facebook Group for child development questions and general support.

The course is a good free opportunity for adults to learn with their children at home through content that is flexible to access and may help bridge some of the gap in development support for those families who have not been able to access nursery provision because of Covid.

The course must be completed between 29th June and 27th July 2020 and is open to all learners in Staffordshire.
