Sacraments

The Diocesan Education service has produced a 6-week programme for Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The whole class will access this learning in the appropriate classes.

Alongside this the school offers Sacramental preparation sessions to help children to prepare for their Reconciliation and First Communion, this is led by the RE team and is prepared by our parish priest, Father Julian.

Fr. Julian will also be carrying out in-class workshops and teaching sessions alongside our Year 6 teacher to support the children to prepare for Confirmation.

Throughout the school year, working alongside our parish priest Fr. Julian, we provide after school sessions to help prepare children for their Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

The sessions are led by catechists from the RE leadership team at the school or by Fr Julian.

Children in Year 3 prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Children in Year 4 prepare for the Sacrament of First Communion.

The programme that we follow is called ‘I want to make my home in you’.

As catechists accompanying the children in their journey towards the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist, we aim to: - Draw from the living source of the word of God - Proclaim a call to love and live according to the Gospel - Initiate an encounter with those who are witnesses to Jesus Christ through their Christian living and help integrate others into the Christian community - Root everyone in the prayer and sacramental life of the Church through liturgical experiences which enable them to share in the grace of the sacraments Children in Year 6 prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, with Fr. Julian working alongside the Year 6 class teacher providing in-class workshops and teaching sessions.
